 1. Material Preparation

Before waterproofing the walls, prepare some essential materials. These include trowels, waterproof coatings, scrapers, and brushes. Choose the right amount based on the wall area. This will ensure that the waterproofing process runs smoothly.

2. Base Treatment

Before waterproofing the wall, first treat the base. Clean the wall’s surface, removing powder, dust, oil stains, and debris. If the old wall has cracks or large peeling areas, re-plaster it. This means leveling the surface and making corner beads. To aid construction, workers can lay a waterproof membrane on the ground. It will keep the construction area dry.

3. Applying Waterproof Coating

After the base treatment, it is necessary to start applying the waterproof coating. The coating can be stone waterproofing or waterproof paint. First, use the coating’s color to apply it evenly to the wall, either by rolling or spraying. During the application process, you should apply the coating evenly to the wall. Repeat this 2-3 times. This will ensure a uniform thickness and a waterproof base.

4. Waterproof Top Layer Construction

You must waterproof the bathroom or toilet wall. So, a waterproof top layer is also needed. It fixes and boosts the waterproofing. Many materials exist for the waterproof top layer. The most common are waterproof mortar and moisture-proof coatings. First, use a brush or spray machine to apply the waterproof top layer to the wall. Ensure it bonds firmly to the waterproof base layer. Then, use a brush to apply it again to make the coating thicker and produce a waterproof effect. You must apply the waterproof top layer twice and let it fully dry.
